News From Osiris

A couple weekends ago, Team rider Shelby Kantar cruised out to Redondo Beach, CA for The 13th Annual Dive n’ Surf Lobster Festival. Shelby and the rest of the Body Glove team, including Daniel Doud, Robby Meistrel, Aaron Aubrey and Jeff McKee put on a demo for the crowd.

“This was the first time that Body Glove has been involved so they wanted to make sure that all of the visitors took notice, and what better way to do that than to send a couple of their wakeboarders flying off of kickers and into fixed metal poles that are planted right in the landing zone of the lagoon? Exactly what Aaron Aubrey decided to do after landing a perfect wrapped frontside stalefish 5. Daniel Doud, Shelby Kantar and Robby Meistrel were the brains behind the operation and invited Aaron Aubrey and myself out to play along. The festival was three days long with killer beach bands, fresh lobster, Body Glove fashion shows and of course the wakeboard spectacle…Team Dantar constructed a 35 foot flat bar and a kicker for us to entertain the crowd with and to be honest my hands are still soaked in butter from slapping high fives with so many lobster consuming fanatics (they were fans of the show is what I am trying to say). Danny Evans even came out to MC the event. I even got the chance to go off the kicker wearing a lobster suit and short skis to finish the show. A water skiing lobster is pretty rare, so I’m like 97 percent sure it’ll probably end up in the Guiness book.” - Jeff McKee

Shelby just touched down in Singapore to shred with riders from 14 different countries this weekend at the Wakeboard World Cup. Good luck Shelby!

Last month, Osiris Girls donated some product to Florida skater Morgan Mcdole to help with some local events she was helping to put on. Check out her recap and pics:

“125 kids signed up to skate the Skaters for Christ event, held at the South Daytona Christian Church. The whole neighborhood must have come out of the wood-works for this one. Speaking of woodwork, DK Ramps was also out there to help build the course on schedule, as well as- get this- make sure there was something for the girls as well!

Well, Osiris Girls took the initiative by sending shirts ahead. So, Dug Ketterman decided for the gals who challenged their skateboarding abilities, or demonstrated a stupid human act, were able to get a t-shirt. To his surprise, young old, and everyone in between had a stupid human trick to show off.”

Morgan is also putting together two part event called “The Neighborhood Tour.” It will be a laid back, jam style event where the focus is to skate and have fun. The first stop is this Sunday, Oct. 12th in South Daytona, FL. Head to www.dkramps.com for all the details.

Last weekend was Goofy vs. Regular at the Etnies Skatepark in Lake Forest, CA. Leticia took 3rd in women’s street and Allysha took 4th in the bowl contest. Congrats girls! Video, full results and pictures below.

Nikita Snowboard Clip Contest

It’s time to strap yourself in and start filming! Poland’s Kasia Kwiecien did just that and with a blinder of a snowboard clip entry, she won herself a trip to Iceland to hang out with the Nikita crew. Courtesy of the Nikita Snowboard Clip Contest, Kasia was picked out from hundreds of entries of girls who entered to win the chance of a lifetime.

“I am sure it was the best trip of my life!! I’d like to thank all the Nikita crew, people who voted for me and my friend Aram who was patient while recording me.” – Kasia’s comment after returning from June’s trip to Iceland.

Well, the Nikita Snowboard Clip Contest is BACK! Launching October 1st 2008, grab your gear, grab a friendly filmer, get the hell out the house and go riding. We want to see your best compilation of clips. Nikita judges will pick the winner from the highest rated clips on Nikita’s YouTube site and will be invited to Iceland to ride the glacier amongst other arctic adventures with the Nikita crew. Oh yes, be ready to head to the mysterious land of lore in the luscious springtime of 2009. You have all winter to work on this and get your clips in before the 30th March 2009 deadline.

To enter all you have to do is:

• Be a chick!
• Be 18 years of age or over
• Enter snowboard clips ONLY please – as long as there is some sort of snowboard action, the Nikita panel of judges will accept it
• Maximum of 3 clips per person
• Clips can be as long or short as you want as long as they don’t exceed the size limit
• Maximum size of clips is 5 MB
• Accept that all entries sent in will be put on Nikita’s YouTube contest site, Nikita’s Mpora and Vimeo channels
• Send in your entries to internis@nikitaclothing.com before March 30th, 2009

Check out the recap of the Tim Brauch Mememorial Contest that took place in Northern California last weekend. Annie Sullivan shredded the bowl and came home with a solid 3rd place finish. Congrats Sullivan!

“This year’s 10th Annual Tim Brauch Memorial Contest took place this past weekend and was definitely the most memorable event to date. Friends, family, and local skaters all came out this past Saturday and Sunday in memory of Tim Brauch, who was and is one of the most respected skaters of all time. Tim’s great talent and willingness to help local youth in skateboarding is what has kept this contest going for 10 years and that is why the leaders of skateboarding came to compete in this great contest.

Sunday’s contest hosted by World Cup of Skateboarding was at the new Lake Cunningham Regional Skate Park in San Jose, CA. Throughout the entire day this park was referred to as the “Best Park in the World” most likely because it is the largest skate park in California at 68,000 square feet and because it features the worlds longest full pipe, tallest vert wall and largest cradle. Not only was the 10th Annual Tim Brauch Memorial Contest at the best skate park but we also had the best pros and legends of skateboarding come out to compete in the contest including Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, and Duane Peters, Benji Galloway and Jimmi the Greek.”
