Hope you had a chance to celebrate go skateboarding day yesterday. We cruised along with team rider Annie Sullivan and Jen Smith as well as Sector 9 surfer Kim Mayer for Sector 9’s 4th Annual Boardwalk Poker Run. 5 miles of skating along Mission Bay and Mission Beach on a gorgeous first day of summer + wahoo’s fish tacos + prizes and games = GOOD TIMES. We don’t need a holiday to go skateboarding but we will sure celebrate it anyway!!

Mission Bay, CA

Last Wednesday night, we headed to Hollywood, CA to check out Billabong’s much anticipated event: Design for Humanity. A bikini fashion show, an art auction and a concert by Iglu & Hartley as well as The Airborne Toxic Event made for a great night. All the proceeds of the event went to Charity: Water, a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Last friday was the 11th annual Transworld Skate Awards, at The Avalon Theater in Hollywood, CA. Osiris threw the after party for everyone to enjoy. Team rider Leticia Bufoni was there to check out the show along with the video premier. Team rider Karen Jones is skating a demo at six flags this Sunday. She is part of a show put on by bmxer Matt Hoffman, called Matt Hoffman’s Danger Defying Daredevils at the theme park in Los Angeles, CA.

“There’s these demos going on at 6 flags for this month, a couple of different skaters are going to be on it like Lincoln Ueda, Lynz Adams, Anthony Furlong, Phill Rajal, besides the bikers and moto guys. There are 2 or 3 shows everyday 20 minutes each, its pretty dynamic and a crowd pleaser haha. I was there last week and going to be again this Sunday.” – Karen Jones

Yesterday Osiris Girls hosted an all girls ride day down in Mission Beach in San Diego, CA. Team riders Melissa Marquardt, Shelby Kantar, Stef Tor were on hand to demo, coach and hang out with the 17 girls that came out for a day of fun. Skateboarder Annie Sullivan and Australian wakeboarder Bec Gange were also on hand to hang out and ride. We started the day at bright and early at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center, which runs wakeboarding classes and camps year round on the bay. Melissa and Shelby both rode first, providing some excellent motivation for the rest of the girls to shred. After all the girls rode we grubbed on some delicious burritos c/o Wahoo’s Fish Tacos – thanks to our friend Tal at Sector 9. After we re-energized with some Monster energy drinks and re-hydrated with Vitamin Water, we headed down to Wavehouse, which is just a couple blocks away right on the beach. Wavehouse team rider Heather Savant along with Marketing Manager Krista Glauner helped coached the girls in riding the flowbarrel. Heather also did a demo and shredded the wave to pieces. After the session, we gave away tons of prizes, including Osiris Shoes, Neff Beanies, Dragon sunglasses, Skullcandy headphones, Body Glove life jackets and last but not least a brand new Liquid Force wakeboard. Wakeboarding, wakeskating, waveriding and tons of awesome gear all in one day… doesn’t get much better than this!
