Vera's Pirate Ship

Team rider Vera Janssen lives the good life. For most of us, the snow is long gone and powder days are light years away, but for Vera summertime just means more riding and a lot of it. She has been cruisin’ in her RV in Whistler, BC riding and filming with the Alterna crew, who is working on their 2008 film “Knockout.” For the past couple of weeks, Vera has been hangin’ out and riding at the Camp of Champions….here is her update:

Greetings from British Columbia once again!!

Camp of Champions opened its gates to over 200 campers this last weekend and just in time the Canadian sun decided to light up the massive park on Blackcomb glacier. The kids invaded Whistler to be coached by pro snowboarders Silli Mittermueller, Chris Dufficy, Chad Otterstrom, Matt Belzile, and many more! The first day I came up I wasnt sure whether I would even know anybody up there. But right away I ran into the Pirates, Bataleon, Transworld crews who showed up to get the camp started in the right fashion: Ride Hard - Party Hard !! The Pirates brought over the teaser for their new movie “Overseas”. Me still driving the RV aka the Pirate Ship went to pick up about 10 rowdy Pirates and shipped them over to the Camp where the campers would be honored with its very first showing as well as a bunch of Pirate gear and stickers!! All in all it basically feels like Euro-Camp over here right now. My Deeluxe team buddy Elias Elhardt is working fence crew and I get to hang out with him for the next few weeks. Between his fence duties he has been seen throwing down hard in the park - no surprise to whoever knows him…

The Bataleon guys have also been making quite the Euro-Appearance - slaying it hard on and off the hill. Their TM Eric has been doing a great job at staying on top of this partying and shredding Eurobunch, which includes such ladymen as Gulli Gudmundsson, Andy Gidlund, Kalle Ohlson, and Tyler Chorlton. He needs to be careful when letting them use his phone though because it is getting confusing about which girls answer back to which team riders…

A great start into the summer!!!!!!

On Thursday, June 26, the good people from Spy Optic hosted an afternoon of burgers, beer, and wakeboarding at the Carlsbad Lagoon for its staff and retailers. Check out the photo gallery posted on the TWS Biz website.

This past Saturday was a very special day. Wanna know why? Cause it was international “Go Skateboarding Day,” and if you didn’t know that, then guess what, you missed out on the best day of the year. I spent the day cruisin’ with Osiris Girls team rider Annie Sullivan and her party posse which included pro surfer Jen Smith, college buds Candace, Gina, and Bri (who is also an awesome photographer). Annie claims that Go Skateboarding Day is the best holiday of the year, yes, even better than Christmas! Crazy! We celebrated by partaking in Sector 9’s Annual Boardwalk Poker Run down in Pacific/Mission Beach in San Diego, CA. It was the first official day of summer and also happened to be the hottest day of the whole year but we managed to stay hydrated and took a couple of dips in the ocean to cool off. Check out the awesome pics c/o miss Bri Burkett and remember that you don’t need a holiday to go skateboard cause every day is go skateboarding day!!

GSD is this Saturday, June 21st. These are just a few of the spots we’ll be at… come join if you are close, if not go skate in your state…

Osiris Girls team rider Nicola Butler has been killing it on the 2008 Pro Wakeboard Tour, which has completed 3 out its 5 total stops across the nation. Setting the record for the first female ever to capture 3 straight wins on the pro tour, Nicola, age 16, is also one of the youngest competitors on the tour. There are two more stops left: June 28-19 in Phoenix, AZ and July 11-13 in Reno, NV. We’d wish Nicola good luck on the last two stops but something tells us she isn’t going to need it!!!
