News From Osiris

This past Sunday was the S3 Supergirl Jam in sunny Mission Beach, San Diego. The first of its kind, the Supergirl Jam was not only an all-girls event but included a snowboard rail jam, a vert ramp skate demo AND a skateboard street course competition, all taking place just steps from the beach. “Supergirl,” created by Warner Brothers, “represents the girl of today who embodies and celebrates the power of independence and self expression. Whether an intellectual or an athlete…Supergirl celebrates and honors the girls and young women who thrive and succeed in all areas of life, with no definitions or limitations.”
The event featured top ranked pros Gretchen Bleiler, Leanne Pelosi, Erin Comstock, Jamie Anderson in snow, Cara-Beth Burnside, Mimi Knoop, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins in vert skating, and Vanessa Torres, Amy Caron, Lacey Baker and Leticia Bufoni in street skating. Our very own girls team rider and mini shredder Allysha Bergado was skating the huge vert ramp as well. Each of these girls threw down and killed it on the rails and ramps. This event is just one of many events that Girls Learn To Ride (GLTR), an organization dedicated to getting girls involved in action sports, helps to put on. The Supergirl Jam will only get bigger and better so make sure to check it out next year or log on to GLTR to find an event or a clinic near your town.

This past weekend was the Action Sports Retailers Tradeshow, in downtown San Diego, California. ASR is an industry only tradeshow where skate/surf/snow companies showcase their new products to retailers. In addition to this there is a fashion show, skate contest and mural painting going on all at the same time. The Osiris booth was buzzin’ with the “Feed the Need” Video Trailer, Osiris’ newest skate video dropping in November, as well as the the debut of Guitar Hero III set up for all to play.
The Glue Network hosted “Green 4 Green: Money for the Environment”, which included a poker tournament, live art installation and concert in partnership with ASR and ISM: A Community Project. Green 4 Green benefited ASEC, the Action Sports Environmental Coalition, a non-profit organization that works to unite the action sports community to affect positive change for social and environmental issues. Check out the pictures below to see the completed murals. Osiris Girls Artist Series artist Kelli Murray was involved in the project as well. A couple of weekends ago, Core Action Sports for Women, hosted an all girls skate day at the Denver Skate Park in Denver, Colorado. Osiris Girls Team rider Annie Sullivan went out to represent. Check it out:

Core Action Sports for women, was the organization that hosted the event…and it was really fun! The skate scene is completely different out here compared to SD so to see all of these girls ripping was really cool. Everyone was sooooo stoked on Osiris! I showed up towards the end of the event (it started at 8am), which was perfect considering the Osiris gear was the coolest thing that happened all day…so it was a great finale. Some of the girls were nervous to skate when I got there so I started giving prizes to the girls who were ripping…so then everyone started ripping. Skater of the day was little Ciara (purple helmet and pink Osiris shirt).
